How to Stay Warm During Cold Festival Nights at Pyramid Festival

Warm summer days under the open sky, dancing, exploring Rtanj Mountain, and spending time with friends are all part of the Pyramid Festival experience.

But when the sun goes down, nature shows another side.

Even though Pyramid Festival takes place in August and daytime temperatures can rise above 30°C, nights at the foot of Rtanj Mountain can become surprisingly cold. As with many outdoor psytrance festivals set in nature, mountain air and temperature changes after sunset mean that a warm jacket or extra layer can make a big difference.

A little preparation will help you stay comfortable and enjoy the night until sunrise.

1. Dress in Layers

The best way to stay warm is to wear multiple layers instead of relying on one thick piece of clothing.

A good combination:

  • A breathable base layer
  • A hoodie, fleece, or sweater
  • A jacket or wind-resistant outer layer

Layers allow you to adjust throughout the night depending on how your body feels.

Avoid getting too sweaty early in the evening — moisture makes your body lose heat faster once temperatures drop.

2. Protect Your Hands, Feet, and Head

The body loses heat quickly through extremities, especially during long nights outdoors.

Bring:

  • Warm socks (a dry pair reserved for nighttime is ideal)
  • Closed shoes or boots
  • A beanie, scarf, or buff

Even in August, these small additions can completely change your comfort level during the night.

3. Stay Dry

Cold and moisture together can quickly make you uncomfortable.

Remember to:

  • Change sweaty clothes before the night gets colder
  • Keep a dry hoodie or jacket in your backpack
  • Bring a poncho or wind protection in case of humidity or rain

A dry layer at the right moment can save your night.

4. Keep Your Body Fueled

Your body needs energy to maintain warmth.

During colder nights, warm food and drinks can make a big difference:

  • Warm meals and soups
  • Tea and other hot drinks
  • Nuts, dates, and energy-rich snacks

Take care of your body throughout the day so you have enough energy for the night ahead.

5. Keep Moving

You don’t need to dance all night to stay warm.

Simple movement helps your circulation:

  • Walk between festival zones
  • Explore different areas
  • Dance at your own rhythm

Movement keeps your body active and helps you stay comfortable outdoors during a long psytrance festival night.

6. Gather Around the Fire

The Community Fire Pit is one of the places where people naturally come together during the night.

It is a place to warm up, share stories, connect with others, and slow down for a while.

Remember to respect the fire and the space around it — only designated festival fires are allowed within Pyramid Village.

7. Prepare Your Camp for the Night

A comfortable night starts with a prepared campsite.

Consider bringing:

  • A sleeping bag suitable for cooler nights
  • A sleeping mat for insulation from the ground
  • A blanket or extra layer
  • Dry clothes reserved for sleeping

The ground can absorb a lot of body heat, so insulation underneath you is just as important as staying warm above you.

8. Bring a Small Warmth Backup

A few small items can make a big difference:

  • Extra scarf or buff
  • Thermal blanket
  • Compact jacket
  • Additional dry layer

Small preparation creates much more comfort when temperatures drop.
