Our Eco Achievements at Pyramid Festival 2025: Improving Sustainability Step by Step

This year at Pyramid Festival, we continued our journey towards sustainability, building on past experiences and implementing improvements to further reduce our environmental impact.

Enhanced Greywater Management: We increased the capacity of the main shower biofilter, allowing us to purify more greywater efficiently and maintain smooth operations throughout the festival.

Zero-Waste Bazar: Our bazar fully embraced the Leave No Trace philosophy. All stall decorations and packaging were zero-waste, and the area was left spotless after the festival—a great example of how festival commerce can be both creative and environmentally responsible.

Natural Hygiene Products: We provided natural dish soaps in the community kitchen and natural soaps and shampoos in the showers (Domaci Miryn Sapun), encouraging participants to reduce chemical contamination of water systems.

Composting & Waste Management: Our composting system continued transforming organic waste into nutrient-rich humus, while our compost toilets remained a sustainable solution for human waste, conserving water and protecting the environment. This year, we rotated the locations of the compost toilets to ensure more efficient use and reduce crowding.

Recycling & General Waste Management: Throughout the festival, all recyclable materials, including aluminum cans, plastics, and other packaging, were properly separated and processed by the local recycling company Jubul.

Your Role in Protecting Rtanj: Sustainability is a shared responsibility. Every item you bring to the festival—food, packaging, or personal gear—carries a responsibility: whatever you bring in, you take out. Leave no trace behind and dispose of waste responsibly. By actively participating in waste prevention—using refill stations, reusable cups, and our composting and recycling systems—you become an essential part of protecting Rtanj’s natural beauty for everyone.

This year demonstrated that sustainability is a continuous learning process. Each improvement—from upgraded biofilters to zero-waste bazaar practices, free natural hygiene products, responsible waste management, and the active involvement of participants—brings us closer to a fully eco-friendly festival experience.

Looking Ahead: We aim to keep refining our practices, expanding the use of reusable and refill systems, and inspiring our community to actively participate in protecting Rtanj’s natural beauty.
